PMSHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Bhopal Maida Mill is among the pioneering Central Schools, established in 1964 by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Initially, the school functioned in a temporary building for three years before moving to its own premises.
The Chairman of this Vidyalaya has traditionally been the education secretary of the state. At its inception, there were only three CBSE schools in Bhopal, and Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 quickly became an exemplary institution, attracting the children of bureaucrats and expanding from a two-section to a four-section school.
K.V. Maida Mill Bhopal boasts a distinguished history. Notably, Master Ajay Amar, the All India Topper of Class XII in 1980, is an alumnus. The school has hosted various national and international educational conferences, and celebrated significant events such as Surpanchshati and Premchand Janamshati.
Its alumni have achieved distinction worldwide. Rear Admiral G.K. Harish, recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal, and Shri Push Joshi, Managing Director of HPCL, are notable alumni. Mr. Kavim Bhatnagar, a consultant for the UNO Food Programme and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020, is also among the distinguished former students.
The school has evolved significantly, transitioning from traditional blackboards to smart classes and modern facilities, including a well-equipped computer lab and an Atal Tinkering Lab. It has a strong record of achievements in sports, academics, youth parliament, and extracurricular activities, consistently producing excellent results and maintaining its status as a pace-setting institution.
